Jinks... I normally follow the price.... wait for a good drop and way up the general UK AND USA market ....if has had a good run up then it is due for a drop profit taking etc... as i had said my neighbour is a canny bugger and been doing it for years....sometimes buys in and in goes lower i have made a couple of poor deals had to wait 5 months this year when i jumped in at 26p and it went down to 19p and sold at 31p .... during the course of a year to make 5 to 15 percent is ok for me....
I basicially do it for a better outcome than horse race betting and it gives me an interest in the financial world..... and i treat it like a hobby or bit of fun..... I am not 100k investor or even near 50k but it keeps me amused ..do not expect to get it right every time ..but waiting will often get me out of trouble.......and profit....the volitility is the attraction ...... and as my nieghbour says thats where the money can be made...... and it will continue for a while yet ..he says.
Banddiera.... i think the times are more steady now and a massive drop today down to 100p or 150p is really unlikely in the next few years ..... like the drop 5 years ago.....the money i have gained is not re- invested but is growing and wil be used for whatever ..so my stake is reducing as my gains are growing....hopefully i will be playing with just my profits and play for nothing.......
I only invest what i can afford to lose but would sell before a massive loss..... shame many did not sell on the way down from £6 a few years ago.... but thats investing for you or hindsight.
I never assume anything as i and constantly learning...... and i cannot spend 8 hours a day at the computer so i miss out some times if i am out for the day etc....
Sometimes the more you know is a hinder than a help..... i just keep it simple and often just wait....
