Many years ago our town planners, decided to make our very busy market town style high street, a pedestrian precinct, block paving every inch, about ten years after that, when the high steet had lost most of the family run traders and replace by charity shops, they decided to lift the blocks and replace the whole lot with granite paving blocks ( cost a fortune) there are still a few multiples on the high st , but the planners damage has ruined the prospects of atracting any good retail outfits to the town, this is the story around the county.
