My nephew works for the MOD and the stories, he tells me would make you blood boil, because they deal with only a few main contractors, EG Rolls Royce ,BAE, Babcock, they cannot outsource and as such cant get cheaper supplies he has personally seen easily sourced parts which have been marked up 1000 %, contracts issued with no final costs basically charge us what you want with no penalty clauses, he can complain but the way the system is worked it makes no differance. Soon to retire Senior Naval officers, sign off on major contracts, then a few months later are working for the private company who recieved job.
