I think this is just a fight between New York and London vying for the top financial city to do business. There both filing lawsuits to financials to show they are cleaning up the city and it's the best place for businesses. When all this blows over, the politicians will ease regulation through the back doors and allow the lenders to take risks again. Same old story...!!!
Just was watching Networks of Power based on London. London has the most foreign investment than any other city in the world. Didn't realise Qatar have invested soo much in our city. They own half of Canary Wharf and they funded the Shaard. The Qatar prime minister said he welcomes investment in London. Could be they will buy into RBS and Lloyds when the time is right.
