Its easy to take that stance but maybe you need to take a wider view. This Country is still very wealthy in comparison with many others. Are you seriously suggesting that we should stop feeding starving people in Africa and elsewhere?
I noted here last week that restaurants and pubs are still very busy, especially at weekends. On Friday last the Great British Public donated £70 million to Comic Relief. I rather think you are in the minority. The reality of the UK economy is that there is money for the right things but we overspend on too many areas. The Govt is trying to reduce in these areas in order to pay off the long term debt. Many of us have exactly the same circumstances at home and are coping. There are an unfortunate few who aren't quite so fortunate and need to be assisted but within the Country as a whole this is a manageable situation if we all recognise our personal responsibilities. As a nation we are better that your comment might imply.
